In the foreground is the Carruth Pedestrian Bridge. This black and white photograph from Eleanor Tinsley Park near downtow Houston shows a beautiful and cold night along the shores of Buffalo Bayou. Buffalo Bayou's waters are perfectly still, and fading clouds make for a beautiful end of the day.įrom just above Buffalo Bayou, this black and white aerial looks down on Carruth Pedestrian Bridge, the winding waterway, and to the high rises of downtown Houston on a cold winter evening. Here are a few black and white photos from that morning, including one taken with my drone:Ī cold winter evening embraces downtown Houston in this black and white photograph. ![]() In the distance, the downtown Houston skyscrapers seemed to climb into the clouds. ![]() Adding to the overall scene, the setting sun in the west turned the clouds in the east nice shades of pink and blue. Each morning resident completed mood scales, a sleepiness scale, and estimated their prior night. I love the way the bridge crosses the water, and on this evening the water was perfectly calm. The residents wore actigraphs for the 4 to 9 days of the study. After walking a ways and looking around for a good location, I finally settled on an area around the Carruth Pedestrian Bridge. Nevertheless, being in Houston, I wanted to take advantage of the situation, so I headed downtown to Eleanor Tinsley Park along Buffalo Bayou. For someone used to driving on country roads where the biggest traffic boondoggle is the carpool line at the local elementary and middle schools, city traffic is not my jam. Although Enkindled Moods was recently launched, I. My friends that live there say they avoid the downtown area and stick to their neighborhoods north and west of the mayhem. To help facilitate this engagement, Enkindled Moods plans to offer fun and interactive workshops that teach the science of candle making and/or plans to donate resources to a community organization that provides similar types of engaging learning opportunities to young Black and Brown students. ![]() Still, sometimes these scenes can be taken in black and white and look quite striking, especially if the clouds cooperate.įirst, I have to pause and say Houston traffic is pretty terrible. I don’t seek out locations much in the winter months because the grass is usually brown and the trees bare. Last week I was in Houston and took the opportunity to photograph a little of the Houston skyline one cold evening. ![]()
